A first visit over three days
Our three-day itinerary combines arrival, a priority adventure and a forest-and-beach day. It is designed to move around, not to fill every hour. Book your accommodation first and choose the adventure that matters most.
One full day on the coast
If you already have a full day on the coast, choose one beach or forest area, a relaxed meal and a town walk. Avoid combining a long-distance arrival with a full-day marine trip. Long Beach and a nearby open trail can make a satisfying outing.
A slower stay
With more time, add a guided kayak trip, a day trip to Ucluelet, a second surf lesson or a quiet day at your accommodation. Rest days help when weather moves a booking. Leave time for the places you discover once you arrive.
Adapt your plans to the season
Use best time to visit to set expectations, then check services for your dates. Give the return journey its own margin; an itinerary should not make catching a ferry feel like a race.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Tofino itinerary for a first visit?
Arrive and take a short beach walk, spend day two on one booked adventure such as surfing or whale watching, and finish with a rainforest trail and Long Beach.
Can you do Tofino as a day trip?
From Nanaimo it is just under 3 hours’ drive each way, so a day trip is long. One or two nights makes the drive worthwhile.
